Ointments & Salves
There are times when your skin will need a more substantial topical remedy than your daily natural moisturiser. For example to soften hard skin on heels and elbows or to counteract the effects of prolonged exposure to sun or wind - fronts of lower legs are a problem area too. You may have a persistent skin problem such as psoriasis, eczema or dermatitis and are fed-up with prescribed chemical-based lotions which only seem to mask your condition temporarily and can have unpleasant side effects. Sore muscles and strains also benefit from the healing and soothing application of ointment suitable for the condition.Your baby may have a nappy rash which is relentless and you are looking for a natural alternative to the petroleum and paraffin based ointments in the shops. These products form a layer on the surface of delicate skin - nothing can penetrate, but the skin cant breathe either to heal itself and quickly looses natural moisture causing that shiny, red film which is so uncomfortable and distressing to see.
While we would never claim to have a cure for these debilitating skin complaints we do believe that repeated exposure to chemicals and pollution in everyday life along with the drying effects of Sodium Laurel Sulphate and other harsh man made ingredients present in practically all commercial cleaners, laundry and skincare products do not help - constant use dries the skin causing unspecified itching and cracking.
Our ointments are carefully blended in small batches so that they are fresh - important to retain all the therapeutic benefits of the herbs and botanicals we use. A base of Organic Northumbrian Beeswax, a selection of vegetable oils and butters and added exotic speciality oils to suit differing applications and finally our own herbal macerations (steeped in Extra Virgin Olive oil for at least 4 months) - thats it.no preservatives needed. These products have a shelf life of at least 12 months from date of purchase and we will hand label each pot with the date it was made - especially for you.
